11 km from the airport. 25 km from town. One reserve road serves all three centres. Every route in, priced — and the return-trip catch that strands more visitors than any other detail.

| From | Mode | Cost | Time |
|---|---|---|---|

| Sandakan city | Grab / taxi | RM40–50 | 30–40 min |
| Sandakan city | Batu 14 bus | RM6 | ~45 min |
| Kota Kinabalu | Flight + taxi | fare + RM45 | 45 min + 20 min |
| Kota Kinabalu | Bus (Inanam) | ~RM45 | 6–7 hours |
| Kinabatangan lodges | Included transfers | in package | 2–2.5 hours |
The airport sits on the Sepilok side of town. Don't route through the city.
The taxi counter in arrivals runs about RM45 to the reserve road. Grab prices similarly. Every resort arranges pickups for comparable money if you ask at booking — the zero-thought option after a long connection.
Land by 08:30 and the 10:00 feeding is comfortably yours.
Grab is the default: RM40–50, 30–40 minutes from the waterfront. Taxis match it if you agree the fare first.
The budget hero is the Batu 14 Sepilok bus: RM6, and the 09:00 departure connects neatly with the morning feeding. One trap — some Batu 14 services drop at the junction, a 2.5 km walk from the gates in equatorial heat. Timetable and the trap, in full: the Sandakan page.

Fly. 45 minutes, Malaysia Airlines or AirAsia, several times a day.
The Inanam bus exists — 6–7 hours, about RM45 — and makes sense only if you're touring overland one-way. Whether a same-day KK return is worth attempting (barely, and we argue no): the KK page.
Everything walks. Resorts, the orangutan gate, the sun bears directly opposite, the RDC a kilometre on. This is quietly the best argument for sleeping in the reserve — it turns every transfer on this page into a stroll.
The Kinabatangan lodges sit 2–2.5 hours east, and every package includes the pickup — usually with Gomantong Caves as a free stop en route. It's the one transfer genuinely worth taking packaged. The combinations.
Grab works to Sepilok reliably. From the gate, it's inconsistent — see the catch above. There's no Uber in Malaysia.
Yes. Sun bears directly opposite; RDC about 1 km along. Flat, walkable, hot.
Yes, at the centre's car park. Self-driving from Sandakan is one sealed road, no navigation required.
Every package on the tours page includes pickup and all onward transfers. On multi-day itineraries, that's chiefly what you're paying for.
