sepilokorangutan.my Plan my visit

The half-day visit

Updated Sept 2026  details verified

For the transit day and the tight schedule. One feeding, the nursery, the essentials — timed to the minute, because your minutes are the constraint.

This is the plan for people with a flight to make. Every timing below has slack built out of it. Follow it and you'll see the heart of Sepilok before lunch.

  1. 09:00–09:15 — arrive. Tickets (cash), lockers (RM1), camera fee. From the airport it's 20 minutes and ~RM45 — a landing before 08:30 makes everything below work.
  2. 09:20 — education hall, if the documentary timing suits. Otherwise save it for after.
  3. 09:30 — the boardwalk. Ten minutes through the forest. Rail spot by 09:40.
  4. 10:00 — the feeding. Rangers, bananas, and — forest willing — the ropes start moving. What the wait is like.
  5. 10:45 — the outdoor nursery. The reliable half of the visit. Young orangutans, climbing frame, air-conditioned viewing room.
  6. 11:30–12:00 — out. The gates close for lunch at noon anyway. Friday: everything above shifts 15 minutes earlier — the morning gate shuts at 11:00.

Spare 45 minutes at the end? The Sun Bear Centre is directly opposite the gate and fits exactly. The airport is 20 minutes away for an afternoon flight.

If this plan feels tight, that's because it is. The full day is the same visit without the wristwatch.
